Terms of use
These terms cover this website and the Boundless app. Using either means you accept them.
What Boundless is
Boundless is a reader application for comics, manga, and novels. It ships with no content, hosts no content, and operates no content server. It is the reading app; what it reads is yours.
Material reaches your library in one of three ways, and each of them starts with you:
- Files you already have. Open a plain-text novel, a CBZ comic archive, or a PDF from the Files app or a share sheet, and it is added to your library to read offline.
- A library you host. Self-hosted server software such as Komga turns a folder of files you own into a library on hardware you control. Boundless reads from one directly, with nothing in between.
- A source you install. Add a source repository by URL in Settings, such as the official one, and install a source from it, such as Project Gutenberg or Komga Demo. Boundless browses and reads straight from whatever site that source targets.
Your library is yours
Boundless does not select, supply, host, or recommend any content, and it makes no representation about the rights in anything you open with it. You are responsible for having the right to the material you put into your own library, in the same way you are for any file on your own device.
Source repositories
A source, of the kind described above, is an adapter that knows how to talk to one particular site, and it runs sandboxed on your device rather than on any Boundless server. Boundless ships with no third-party adapter and endorses none, whether it comes from the official repository or one you add yourself by URL. Installing one means choosing to run code written by someone else, and that choice and its consequences are yours.
Your account
Boundless does not require an account. Everything in the app works fully signed out, and nothing in the reader sits behind a login.
Signing in is optional, and it is one account for the app and this website. With Account Sync turned on in the app, it saves your library, reading progress, and settings so they are not tied to a single device, and on this site it also gets you a public profile and the community leaderboard. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account, and we may suspend or remove one that is used to:
- Impersonate another person or organisation.
- Attack, probe, or disrupt this site or its infrastructure.
- Send unsolicited bulk messages, or harass anyone.
- Distribute malware, or code that is deliberately harmful or deceptive.
You can delete your account yourself at any time from your account page.
Comments and content you post
With Account Sync on, you can post comments on a title's page and set up a public profile. Boundless has no tolerance for objectionable content in either: harassment, hate speech, illegal content, spam, or impersonation. New comments are checked automatically, and anything flagged is held until a moderator reviews it.
You can report any comment, and block its author so you stop seeing their comments and profile. A report goes to a moderator, not just the person you reported. We may remove a comment, or suspend or ban the account that posted it, for content that breaks this policy.
No warranty
Boundless and this website are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind. A server you connect can change, become unreachable, or be taken offline at any time, and Boundless has no control over it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of Boundless or this website, including loss of data. Signed out, the app stores your library only on your device, so your device backup and the app's own backup feature are what protect it. With Account Sync on, your account holds a copy too, but keep your own backups regardless.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the project develops. Material changes will be noted on the blog. Continuing to use Boundless after a change means you accept the updated terms.
